Hi, I’m Jill aka Cock, cat mom of two. I am passionate about the perfect cocktail and creating them for my friends & family. Traveling solo has always been exciting to me and I hope to share my trips with you here. Thanks for visiting!

Pensacola with the Parents

I needed a get away that was budget friendly and helped me refocus for Fall. Summer was fading so I choose Pensacola, Florida. My parents retired there 2 years ago and it is quickly becoming my home away from home. What’s better than a pool, the Gulf, and hugs from my parents. Here are a few of the places we went this trip.

I love booking my layover in Nashville for the music energy and this time a very heavy poured mimosa by bartender Beth at the Craft Beer airport restaurant in the Southwest Terminal.

I arrived early enough to do a few hours of work and then off to a late lunch with my parents to Coastal County Brewing. This place has loads of crafty fun and some unique hard seltzers. Karyn the bartender was great and felt like chatting to an old friend. Food was yummy but I had a slight onion snafu so I’ll be extra cautious next time. We closed out the day with a late afternoon swim and some pool drinks.

Thursday looked like it was going to be the best day for the the beach – considering the forecast called for storms all week. I love Navarre Beach but we decided on Pensacola Beach – FKA Casino Beach. The sand is white and squeaky and the emerald gulf did not disappoint with its healing salty waves. the famous Beach Ball water tower looked so proud. Following the beach we braved a thunderstorm on the way to the local favorite near my parents house for a strong drink and a great burger.

Friday I had to put in a few hours of work but that was easy sitting by the pool working on the side of my body the beach sun didn’t burn. We headed downtown to grab some happy hour drinks at The Wine Bar before our celebratory dinner at Fin & Fork. The Wine Bar is set in a breezy vestibule and the service is on par. Our fancy dinner out was great! I didn’t get many pictures of the food but don’t skip on the Southern Fried Cheese or the Filet. I selected a Manhattan and it went down too quick – just how I like ’em.

The day before I have to leave always is a little sad but we made the best of it with an amazing stuffed French toast & mimosa flight made with Big Jerk Sodas at Polonza Bistro. We strolled the Palafox Market which is their arty/farmers market held weekly. This is one of my favorite things to do in PCOLA. After our hot stroll we visited Perfect Plain Brewing for some refreshments and witty banter from the bartender. The bar was one of my favorites, big comfy chairs, plenty of space for revolving customers and the service was genuine. I tried a flight – because I love flights! I settled on the Forever Summer as we chatted with other guests at the bar. I was over hydrating because it was hot and I was thirsty so on my first of many trips to the ladies room I couldn’t help but snap a shot of the tiled floor…like it was speaking right to me! Sup Gurl? I answered….Just Perfect!

This was a great trip and I had so much fun with my parents. It was balanced with new places, familiar favorites, good food, and a comfy Saturday watching the Buckeyes with my Dad.

We all need a little reset and refocus especially when it includes a hug from Mom and deep chats with Dad.

*honorable mention to the Dolly Parton pelican spotted!
